Park Ranger, Tuskegee Institute National Historic Site
Maria L. Tinker is the lead Park Ranger at Tuskegee Institute National Historic Site(TUIN). After graduation from Huffman High School in Birmingham, Maria enrolled at historic Tuskegee University in Tuskegee, Alabama. She graduated summa cum laude with a B.S. in Political Science. While attending college Maria interned at TUIN and nearby Tuskegee Airmen National Historic Site, where she became an expert on the stories of the Institute’s history and early leadership, as well as the legacy of the Tuskegee Airmen and the severe adversities they faced and overcame. Maria joined the National Park Service as a Park Guide at TUIN in 2018. Her pastimes and hobbies include watching documentaries, studying African American history, visiting museums, drawing, and physical fitness. Maria is a native of Birmingham, AL.
