Cristina Martinez's home-base is Los Angeles, CA but has worked in other parts of the country through seasonal work with the National Park Service. After graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Science from Duke University in 2016, she began her career with the agency that same summer by interning at Sequoia National Park through the Latino Heritage Internship Program. Following her 6-month internship, she was hired for her first NPS position as an Education Technician for Sequoia’s Education program and remained in the park by working as an interpretive Park Ranger the following summer. The last two summer seasons (2018 & 2019) she worked as an Interpretive Park Ranger at Glacier Bay National Park in Alaska, gaining expertise in interpreting global climate change and the complex role of humans driving these changes. Although she will miss seeing humpback whales and grinding glaciers, she is excited to be back this season in the place that started it all: Sequoia NP.
